I'm usually a very private person and I don't normally ask for prayers... however, I need the support, asking on my mama behalf...
My mom is such an amazing woman... she is my best friend and has always been my number one hero - even though she would tell you that she isn't anything special. She has had to battle a lot over the years, a lot of health issues including breast cancer... however one of her biggest battles has always been her hearing.
She lost all the hearing in her right ear when I was two... due to a heredity gene, she has always heard less than others... and when she was prego with me, the stress of it cased her bones to become softer and she had to have surgery that was to have a 98% success rate, well, she was in the 2% that failed... then developed a bad infection that moved to her left ear... becoming completely deaf in her right hear and losing a large percentage in the right ear. She has been using the most powerful hearing aid on the market so that she can at least use what little is left in the left year... every test over the years showing that she continues to lose more and more. She was told 35 years ago... that she could hear a little until the age 85, or wake up one morning and it will all be gone...
My mom has found out a few weeks back that there might be a glimmer of hope... that she might be a candidate for a cochlear implant on her "dead" (right) ear... tomorrow is the day she goes through the CAT scan and all the test to see if the bones in that ear are strong enough to support the device... As you can imagine, she is very nervous and fearful as to the results will be... this being her last hope... will not work for her, it will be devastating for her.
Her hearing has held her back on so many things she has wanted to do in her life... not being able to fly in an airplane... giving up her dream jobs... being belittled or treated differently by those that don't understand her situation... there isn't anything I wouldn't do for my mama... I have always been her "ears" growing up... we took sign language classes together - even my son is learning sign language for his beloved Grammy.
So, I humbly ask if you could pray for my mama tomorrow...
thank you...
