Getting a Silhouette!!

You'll have to give us an update after you play. I keep trying to win one. Yay for you!!

I've tried to win one for a long time. I saw a good deal today and just happened to mention it to DH. He told me to order it right away. He wanted to get me one for Christmas and it was a toss up between that and the Nexus 7 and since he couldn't figure out the cutter stuff, he got me the tablet.

I am sure I will use it a lot. I know I'll use it for work!

I just got a cameo (not sure what the difference between the two is, lol) less than two weeks ago, and while I knew a lot about it before I got it, it did exceed my expectations in many ways, esp. after I found out how much stuff is available for free for it on the www, and how easy it is to use and how much you can actually do with the software. And of course, most important to me was being able to use fonts and all my SSD products with it (print and cut). Now next next week my sister's going to hook me up with a bit of stuff from Stampin' Up (not sure what exactly as she hasn't told me any specifics) but I can't wait to combine the two worlds of digi scrapping and stamping (paper scrapping). Yay! (No regrets so far!)

Lydia - for $129.99 you can get the Portrait with the designer software. It is through the Silhouette sight and the code is CRAFT (or crafts?). There are a few other codes floating around with the same price point attached. The same code marks down the price on the Cameo too. :) The designer software is usually $50 alone, so I thought that was really good.

Sulu - differences - main difference is that Portrait has an 8" maximum cut width as opposed to the 12" cut width that the Cameo has. Also the Cameo has an SD card slot and an LCD screen. The Cameo is larger in size. The Portrait still does all that the Cameo does, just doesn't have those few features. The price difference is what drew me to the Portrait. I don't need a 12" cut width anyway. :)

Thanks Sherri. They had a similar deal a few months ago that I almost jumped on. But, shipping and taxes adds almost $50 to the price for me, so I am hesitant. I guess I'm kind of waiting for a great deal on Amazon or Overstock. But, one of these days, I'm just going to have to take the plunge and do it. :)

Oh that's a great deal Sherri! I have a Cameo, but I often use letter size paper on it . . . I also have a crazy small workspace, so I have to keep it stored when not in use . . . a smaller foot print would be nice :)
