Birth Story by Granny

Description: I had shared my first LO with my family and then my Granny emailed me my Birth Story from her point of view and I had to make a LO to record her story! Journaling: About 9:30 P.M. your mamma and daddy walked int to hospital. Mamma labored through the night, but not hard. About 7:00 A.M. Dr. Remy arrived and ordered an Xray. Your daddy hurried it up to Brownwood for the Radiologist to read. When he arrived back, it was decided that you were to be born by Cesarean Section. Alma Webb (Nurse Anesthetist) was called and all the other necessary preparations were made. Your Nanny wanted to be sure enough help was available for such a very important birth so she was there as an extra Circulating Nurse. Cousin, Norma was the Scrub Nurse. Oh, it was awesome. Everyone that was supposed to be scrubbed was scrubbed, and gowned, and gloved. Then all of a sudden there was the gosh-awefullest screeching sound coming from the oxygen going into the incubater that was to be your next bed. Oh, the excitement of it all. Your poor daddy was outside the door. Imagine what must have been going through his head. Nanny covered her ears and started for the door, and Norma was not far behind. Now that it is all over, it is so funny. Thank goodness for cool-headed Dr. John. He just walked over and took care of the situation. We just re-gloved his hands, since he had contaminated the other ones. The rest of your birth was quite nomal for a C-Section. I don't recall the time of your birth, but oh, April, you were such a beautiful baby. After you had arrived and were safely nestled in the incubater, Dr. Remy wondered aloud what you name would be. I said that I had seen some names on a piece of paper on your mamma's bedside table in the Labor Room. The main one seemed to be Autumn. I reasoned that April should be the name for an April baby and since Joy was your mamma's middle name and it was such a JOY that you were here all safe and sound, your middle name should be Joy.. Well I don't remember how it really came about that you were actually given that name, but that is what it is. Later in the day, when you were in the Nursery and the incubater was pushed up to the window so everyone that passed by could see you, your Grandpa Cabansag was standing by the window admiring you. I walked by and said to him, "Isn't she just beautiful?" He agreed. I can't think of anything else to tell you. I hope some of this will be useful for your paper. I love you, April. Granny I forgot one thing -- usually there was one scrub nurse, but for you, there were two. I can't remember for sure who she was, but I think it was Linda Osborne. It was either her or me and it wouldn't be logical for me to not be the circulating nurse, since I would have been the only one who knew where everything was that might be needed.
