Description: I have been doing some traveling since I started this page. Top left with the A-10 in the background is my very first duty station in Spangdahlem, Germany. Next is at the castle in Heidelberg Germany then The Brdge in Remagan, Germany which has SIGNIFICANT WWII history. The top right corner is in front of a C-5 Galaxy in Balad AB, Afghanstan. Just below that is in front of The Alamo in San Antonio, TX just after I finished my last re-enlistment. Then it was off to Arches National Park, UT, White Sands, NM. And what can be more American then Disneyland in Anaheim, CA with two of my favorite people.

My Final Re-Enlistment

Description: I have always had some cool re-enlistments in the past so this one was to be no exception. Specially since it is "hopefully" my last. So I asked Maj Deckard who is a long time family friend to do the honors. It was a beautiful day in San Antonio so I grabbed my retirement flag and headed to The Alamo. When we got there it was pretty busy so we were able to recruit Army Sgt DeLucca who was visiting down there as well to hold my traveling future retirement flag.

Description: Since starting this page I have revisited a few locations that I have been to before. The first location after acquiring my flag and starting this quest is Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany. This was my very first duty station after completing my Air Force basic training and technical school. I was stationed here as an A-10 crew chief which is a mechanic on the aircraft in the background from 1992-1995. The next location is Heidelberg, Germany. I always thought the castle and it's rich heritage was romantic. The third picture added in in Remagen, Germany: The Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen was captured by soldiers of the U.S. 9th Armored Division on 7 March 1945, during Operation Lumberjack during WWII. The bridge's capture is sometimes regarded as the "Miracle of Remagen" in U.S. histories. It was the the last standing bridge on the Rhine and the only thing left that allowed the allies to push back the German Army ultimatly ending the war.

Description: Having been born to a long line of military veterans, this page has a special meaning to me. I joined the Air Force when I was 17 and today I am proud to say that I not only am I still serving, my youngest daughter has joined ROTC and is planning on commissioning in the Air Force upon her college graduation from the University of Iowa. It is really going to take me a while to finish and who knows, I might even move on to a second page as well. I really wish I had gotten this flag as well as started digi scrapbooking a long time ago so I could have taken pictures at some of the cool places I have been since joining the Air Force but the past is the past, time to make some new memories and my flag will be there to be a part of it as well. The verbiage on the page reads; The flag that I am holding in the pictures on this page is a special flag to me because I had been wanting to get a United States flag for some time but never found the right one. It wasn't until an Air Force mission that took me to Dover AFB, DE, that I ended up in Philadelphia on the 16th of January, 2014. A few members of the crew and I decided to take a later flight back to San Antonio, TX so that we may visit some of the historical sites. We saw Carpenter's Hall, Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell, and since we were there on his birthday, we also went to Benjamin Franklin's grave. On our way back to the hotel, we found the home of Betsy Ross. We were so disappointed that we didn't have time to tour the grounds. As we were leaving to go, a flag shop directly across the street opened up for the day. We all took that as a sign and went in for a quick look and I found the perfect flag. Now I am planning on carrying this flag everywhere I go while I am still serving my country and beyond my retirement from the Air Force. I want to take it to every location I am blessed to go that is historical to the development of our wonderful country and it will probably visit a few random offbeat places as well.

Day Tripping Philadelphia - 2014

Description: I was recently fortunate enough to get a little extra time to explore Philadelphia, PA on Benjamin Franklin's birthday of all days. We got to see Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Benjamin Franklin's grave, and a few other cool locations in the area. I also bought an American flag at a shop across from the home of Betsy Ross that I plan on taking with me wherever I fly to around the world.

2013 Year In Review for a really BIG year

Description: 2013 was probably the most hectic year Dave and I have had since we have been together. From my daughter graduating high school and going off to college, our dog going blind from a sneaky case of diabetes to my husband moving to southern California for his military career while I stay behind in Texas from a few more months to get re-qualified in my military job. This page is to help preserve some of those memories.

Description: My husband and I have lived in Texas since 2006 And we have always wanted to get a set of cowboy boots. So this last June, we finally made the trip to Congress Street in Austin and went trough a few stores until we found Heritage Boots. I totally fell in love with a pair so I ended up wearing them out of the store. Our newly blind dog, Karma went out with us that day as well. It was her first "BIG" day since loosing her vision and she did wonderful. She was such a good girl as we were trying on different kinds of boots.

Description: My husband and I recently accepted a "Spending Awareness" challenge. The goal was to look at Aprils spending and see how much you spent on food to include groceries, restaurants, snacks from snack bars etc. Then, give yourself a grocery bBarrow (Bundle)udget and with proper planning, not eat out the entire month of May. After seeing what we had spen in april, we were shocked. So my husband I and I started by sitting down and figuring out the weekly "food" budget. To make sure we stuck with it we pulled cash out Sunday mornings and put it in the cash purse. I made up these weekly cards to go in a small zippered change purse I carried with us when we went grocery shopping. I would write down our beginning balance at the top and then with each purchase I would subtract the sale from the total leaving us with the weekly funds available. At the end of the week if I had any cash leftover, I got to go splurge at the farmers markets. I made a few different cards for that occasion as well For the first time in a long time I shopped with a grocery list and a calculator and I got to say, I wasn't liking it too much. But it did teach me a lot about planning, budgeting and being a little more resourceful. All in all it was am educational challenge that my husb and I decided to continue doing since we ended up with several hundred dollars back in our house. Of course it didn't seem like much when we were spending the money until we added it up.
