Description: I had set a goal of running a half-marathon in the fall of 2016. I began training seriously in February and by the end of April I had my long run up to 7 miles with an average of 11:30 a mile. On May 2, my L5/S1 disc apparently fractured in my sleep and the next 2 months were a whirlwind of extreme pain, doctors' visits, MRIs and two surgeries. After my first surgery, my disc re-fractured and punctured my spinal cord, so another surgery. So now, I'm adjusting to the fact that I have to reset my goal to next year and I'm having a difficult time with that.
