Description: I decided the blue sky today was just screaming out for a reflection-style photograph, so I brought a large rimless mirror into my backyard along with my dogs and a bag of treats. It took a lot of negotiating (and the help of my husband) but I captured this shot of my Morkie, Charlie, that makes me smile!

Description: I was fortunate enough to photograph my niece's wedding in 2015. As she made her final preparations in one of the church's back rooms, her mother came in for a few photos. Of all the posed images I captured, I like this candid one the best. In this genuine interaction with her mother, we've captured the looks on both of their faces as well as the beauty of both the front *and* back of her dress. This is a great example of how reflections in photographs can help increase the amount of documentary info in a single image.

Description: In 2016, we visited my sister- and brother-in-law in The Netherlands where they were serving as missionaries. One of the places they took us to visit was Zaanse Schans, a heritagepark in North Holland. I was entranced by the beauty of the mills and museum buildings as they were reflected in the mostly still water of the canals.

Description: I was playing with my studio lights against a black backdrop, trying to get my settings right for a low-key shoot. With the help of a remote trigger, I caught this self-portrait. I suffer from chronic debilitating migraines, and feel like I spend large chunks of my life hiding from the light.

Description: I captured this self portrait at my workplace one busy afternoon in 2010. I'd just finished attending yet another meeting in a schedule jam-packed full of high-stakes, high-stress projects. I looked fine on the outside, but I was falling apart on the inside. After everyone left the boardroom, I closed the doors and took a couple deep breaths. With the blinds open wide, the room was flooded with light, and I noticed my reflection in the tabletop. So I pulled out my camera, set it on a timer, and captured this self portrait. There was something about my reflection, and the way it faded away to nothing, that spoke to my heart. It was how I felt inside ... like I, too, was fading away ... despite the fact I looked just fine on the outside.
