Journaling reads: Mya turned two and in many ways, it feels like a little girl just moved into our house. Until now, I’ve dressed her in adorable baby girl clothes and fastened bows into her thick ringlets, but it’s always been on my initiative. Mya has always seemed content playing with her brother’s cars, trains and dinosaurs. At her second birthday party she received a huge amount of girly toys; dress-up clothes, a Little People castle, stuffed ponies, dolls and more. It’s as if someone flipped a switch and Mya is out to discover the joys of being a little girl. I now find tiaras and dolls strewn about the house along with the trains and cars. Each morning as I get her dressed she asks, “Mya pretty?” and proceeds to drape strings of fake plastic beads around her neck just to be sure. Occasionally I’ll hear her yell, “bye bye mommy,” and look over to see her in my shoes carrying one of her dress-up purses and pretending to head for the car. Sweet Mya, remember; trains
or tiaras, jeans or jewels you’ll always be my
beautiful baby girl.
