While on vacation this year to Boyne, we took the boys to Mackinac Island one day. We were very lucky and picked a day when there were hardly any people on the Island and the weather was perfect! The four of us rode over to the Island on the Star Line Ferry at 11:00am and the boys loved seeing the water spray from the back of the boat. After arriving on the Island, we walked down Main Street to find my cousin Nicole’s store - Little Luxeries of Mackinac. We stopped and talked to her for a few minutes, checked out her store, and then asked for the best place to eat lunch. She suggested we stop by Doud’s Market for some pre-made sandwiches. We took her advice and did that. We rented two mountain bikes, a tagalong, and a burley cart from Orr Kids Bike Rental and rode around the entire from Orr Kids Bike Rental and rode around the entire 8 miles of the Island, stopping for a picnic lunch at the foot of Arch Rock. When the 8 miles were complete, we stopped for ice cream at Ryba’s and rested along Main Street before heading up into the Island to see Arch Rock from above. We couldn’t have asked for better weather! The sun was out and there was a cool breeze all day. We rode the ferry back to the Mackinaw City at 4:30pm and had dinner there. After our wonderful day, Nathan told us, “Thank you for taking me to Mackinac Island, Mom and Dad. It was the best thing ever.” Talk about smiles all around!
