2010 was a really challenging year for me. My word for the year was “healthy” and looking back I am amazed at how many areas of my life it touched. First, I lost 20 lbs and proved to myself that I can be fit if I choose to be. I also joined a small group that focused on an issue from my past and allowed God to work in the places that I had been broken in for almost my entire life. I thought that I would come out of it a lovelier, kinder and more spiritual woman; so I was stunned by the rage and hurt that I had to wade through as I desperately tried to find and then accept my true self. I confronted issues and people, for the first time, caring more about what was true for me than what they would think of me. It was crazy hard, not just for me, but for all the people around me too and it pushed many of my relationships to the breaking point. I lost a few friends, but I know who loves me now, and I can truly say that I <3 myself too.
