I know exactly when I got the idea for a violin-driven pop songs... It was when I heard the Estonian entry in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. I realised I knew and loved other songs using violin, and the idea was born.
The title came naturally, as a reference to Depeche Mode's Violator (though from the point of view of music there are no similarities despite the one DM song in the compilation).
The cover ended up as a reference to Violator as well - just in case,
it's black and has a red rose drawing. I wanted something minimalist and at the same time powerful.
The font is another DM reference, it comes from the cover of Songs of Faith and Devotion.
I think the title and the cover are actually better than the CD itself, which is a mixture of pop, britpop and, ahem, sh*tpop. But I like the songs, so who cares.
