A Christmas I would like to forget was almost 10 years ago. I was the manager at Friedman's jewelers and had to be at work at 6am on Christmas Eve morning. It was a 30 minute drive and I was exhausted from working until 11 the night before. Breakfast in one hand, coffee in the other, and knees on the steering wheel, my reckless driving took me out of the curve and straight into a mailbox! Not just any mailbox, it was the high school guidance counselor's. I had to knock on her door at 5:30 Christmas Eve morning. She was so sweet! She swore she was already awake (that early?) and told me to sit down and have a coffee. She calmed my nerves and called my parents for me. All she wanted was to make sure I was
alright, and just a new mailbox. Her kindness made me feel even guiltier! Needless to say, I don't drive like that anymore!
