Journaling: May 24, 1982. My original due date was set for May 15 so I was nine days late. (Sorry Mom!) According to my mom, on the morning of the 24th, around 5am they called the hospital to let them know that I appeared to be starting my journey into the world. The hospital told them not to worry, that they had plenty of time since I was their first baby. Little did they know that I had a different plan. Since it was about an hour’s drive across town to Santa Clara and they wanted to avoid too much traffic they decided to go ahead and leave at 6am. They arrived at the hospital around 7am and surprise! I was born just two hours later at 9:06am. Guess it’s a good thing they didn’t hang out at home for too long! My mom has always said that her one complaint was how fast the labor went. Apparently I wasn’t a huge fan either as I got stuck and my heart rate dropped. The doctor actually ended up using forceps to get me out! Although it sounds like it was a pretty crazy morning, I for one am glad to have made it through and into the world.
