For the SSD Sugar Free #36
Journalling reads:
If only I had realized that the road was so icy
that morning. If only had gone just that little
bit slower, been a little bit more careful. I drove
slower than the speed limit, took my time,,
did all you were supposed to do, yet, my van
still ended up like this. It’s only been three
weeks, I’m now in physiotherapy for the
shoulder and rotator cuff I messed up during
the accident. One thing that I remember most
was when the van was upside down, thinking,
“I’m alive. That’s all that matters. Now I have
to get out somehow”. I’m proud of keeping
my composure when the doors wouldn’t open,
proud I was able to think straigh and do what
I had to do.
It was a mistake to leave to drive that morning,
it was very slushy, icy, and no snow plows had
been out yet. I had the most scary
incident of my life that day, but it helped
show me I am strong, I can cope, and
most of all, life is precious. You never
know what moment will be your last. Yes,
it sucks to be doing physio, it sucks to not
be able to work, or skate, but it could have
been a whole lot worse.
I made a huge mistake in underestimating
Mother Nature, one I will never make again.
