Journaling: Most of the children being adopted in our group were young babies, so it was nice that Faith and Gemma already knew each other prior to our stay in Guangzhou. Faith grieved openly at times during the transition, but Gemma was really more curious than upset about everything that was happening. She definitely tried her best to talk to Faith and encourage her when she was upset (even if Faith didn’t always want to hear it). Her fun, playful personality helped lighten the mood and cheer Faith up. It was really cute to hear them talking and laughing with each other in Chinese...even though sometimes it was obvious they were complaining and/or sizing up their new parents. It truly was such a gift that they had each other during the initial days with their new families.

Following China adoption tradition, we had our girls get dressed in their pretty Chinese silk dresses and have their pictures taken on the famous White Swan red couches. As usual, most of the babies wanted nothing to do with this custom, but our big girls didn't seem to mind too much! Aren't they beautiful? I can't wait to see how they grow and change and blossom over the next year!! I know they will always be special friends.
