Participating in the year 6 water skills course is one of those rights of passage for kids about to leave Leeston Consolidated Primary. It’s always left till the end of the year as one of the final hurrahs. That and the fact thta its usually a little warmer weatherwise. Though early December in Canterbury it’s still pretty cold in the water. And that is just one of the things that is almost guaranteed when you get kids, kayaks, sail boats and water together. Someone is gonna fall in and get totally drenched. You made it nearly all the way scrambling along the grouip of rafted kayaks before taking a dive and ending up drenched. Thus when it came time for you to go sailing you were wearing my spare polar fleece jacket. Miles to big for you but it kept you warm while you learnt to sail in a very strong breeze across the Rakaia Lagoon. While you didn’t enjoy the sailing much on the Wednesday I was there with you. Monday and the weather dramatically improving made for much more fun to be had in the sail boat. Going two up in those little boats must have been interesting though. I wish I could have been there to see it. You come home fizzing with excitement that day. Nov 28th/Dec3rd
