Hey you! It’s me, the older, somewhat wiser version of the 22-year-old in this picture. I’ve got some friendly advice for you to make the next stage of life a little easier. I know you won’t listen because stubbornness is one thing that hasn’t changed since 1998. But here goes.. First of all, treasure this stage of life: your first few months with Beto, your last few months of college, your semester in Mexico. You will fondly remember these 6 months in Queretaro forever, but stop being sad about leaving Queretaro and Beto. You will live there again, and this is only the beginning of your love affair with this city and this man. Stop stressing about whether Beto really loves you, whether you’ll be able to stay together once the semester’s over. He does, more than you can imagine, and this one’s meant to last. Your relationship will only get better and better with time, despite some major hurdles you two will have to overcome. Treasure this man at your side - he is one of a kind. Stop trying to plan every minute of the future so much and trust God more. Take care of your health - it does matter, and how much you take care of yourself now will affect lots of your dreams for the future. Keep off the weight you’ve already lost. Being healthy is not magic, it requires hard work, and there is literally no time like the present. And take lots and lots of pictures. You’re about to become a scrapbooker, even though you don’t know it yet.
