Journaling: It’s completely unromantic, but Star Wars Episode 1 is such an important part of our history--as is Weird Al Yankovic’s “The Saga Begins.” The former, because it was one of our nth “dates” as friends. At that point, there was already that weird “more than friends” vibe in the air. We both knew we enjoyed each others’ company. Then, I will never forget, during the pod race scene in Episode 1, you laced your fingers through mine and held my hand tightly. You leaned over and whispered, “I’m really enjoying myself now.” And honestly? I could barely focus on the movie after that.
“The Saga Begins” happened much later. We were driving through crazy heavy traffic in Commonwealth Avenue. Your temper was ready to erupt, when suddenly this song played on the radio. There were very long moments of us figuring out if it *was* Weird Al, and when we did, our laughter and amusement lasted way longer than the traffic we endured. Since then, this song has never failed to cheer us up. Thank goodness, since the movie was crap.
