It soon become clear to my unprofessional eyes that Marcus' oxygen levels are fine while he snores but do definitely drop during the apneas. Even with the alarm trigger dropped to 70%, it reached that threshold several times - we turned the beeper off so we could sleep.
I did sit there a few times and watch the numbers.
Around 3am his breathing got worse, with more pneas. That's when it dropped under 70% several times, bottoming out at its worst at around 32%. I desperately wanted to poke him to keep him breathing, but didn't since that would interfere with the results. This does make me wonder if this is a factor in all the 3am visitations we get; if his breathing drops out and he wakes himself up starting up breathing again, then comes looking for us.
He woke up a little before 4am and didn't go back to sleep again, so I'm a tired mummy this morning, while he's chirpy and happy. (Who knows what he'll be like later in the day.) Fortunately, it's a daycare day, so he's their problem now. We went out for a drive when Dave got home last night and he slept for about half an hour in his carseat. He then crashed out at 6.30pm on my knee and barely even woke when we changed him, put him to bed and attached him to the oximeter, so I suppose waking at 4am just means he had his usual amount of sleep. It isn't good for Mum and Dad though.
