text: Sometimes I get so busy inside the house with all the kids, that I fail to notice one of them has been missing. I peek in all the usual places for that child: the bedrooms, the baths, the backyard...

This day I found Michael in the latter, busily assembling what he called “an experiment”. He had run the garden house through the top of a metal pail and then placed small cups from the kitchen on the ground below to catch the downpour of water.

Experiment, indeed.

How proud he was of what he’d assembled. For myself, I was impressed with how long he’d been at his project - and all alone no less! Outside, just him and some water and some handy items, ready to turn play into work... and vice versa.
