SIX..years old. I blinked. And it’s just gone. I am happy that you’re growing up. I’m glad that on most days, I get to have a conversation with you about who knows what. Sometimes it’s about how hot air balloons work, and others it’s about what the word “narrow” means after you’ve heard it on the radio. You are so curious about the world around you, and are constant wanting to know who, what and WHY. Always why. Still why.
You are funny and so, so quirky. I love that you stand out from the crowd. I never really wanted to stand out in a significant way growing up, but you my friend have it mastered so far. When all the other girls want to be princesses for Halloween, you wanted to be a leopard.
I haven’t dressed you since you were two and I’m proud of that fact. For me. Letting go of that was pretty hard to do at first. I like control. But it’s something I chose not to fight about, and I am so glad I allow you to express yourself like you do. Usually it involves very colorful patterns paired together with some sort of mismatched boot. You are an insanely creative. Every day at quiet time you make a crazy mess of your room. Things are in different piles, projects everywhere, and junk junk junk that is so important to you tucked in spaces I forgot existed. It’s so hard to explain how you sort and “organize”, but you know exactly where everything is. You are sparkly, spunky, hilarious and oh so frustrating at times. I love you so, my sweet Doodle!
