One night, coming back from Times Square, a couple of teacher friends and I were taking the subway back to Columbia. We took the express route, as it was the fastest, but they were doing some track maintenance, so we decided to take a taxi the rest of the way. Well, about three blocks in, we were hit by a drunk driver. Fortunately, nobody was injured, although our taxi and the other guy’s car had some serious damage. Right before impact, we had been discussing the conspiracies surrounding Flight 800, and how most of us believed that the plane went down from a missile explosion. Right then “BOOM”, we were hit. We were fine, and we walked the rest of the way to Columbia. Needless to say, we didn’t take taxis anymore this trip. We should have taken the express. We got back to our rooms and decided that this was indeed our “New York Story”.
