Today we tried something new. We bought some washable finger paints, a smock, and some paper so Macy could try some finger painting. We put the paper on the table, and then Chris opened up the colors and we squirted a little of each color on the paper. Macy just stared at the colors, and then pointed at them. Finally, after much staring and remarking, we grabbed Macy’s finger and stuck it into the paint, and the put her finger on the paper. She immediately recoiled and turned her head to the side. Obviously, she didn’t want to get dirty. So, to show her how it was done, Chris and I began fingerpainting. We made trees, suns, and flowers, in the hope that Macy would join us. But, she didn’t. Macy just watched us and tried to put her thumb in her mouth (although it had paint on it). So, we painted for about ten minutes, and then switched to color crayons, which Macy enjoyed. -September 14, 2008
