JOURNALING:
May 18, 2024, my sister and I were making an evening of it by watching the 149th running of the Preakness Stakes, the second "jewel" in racing's "Triple Crown" on NBC followed by a special dinner of Waygu sliders, and the "nightcap" of the Columbus Crew playing an "away" game in Chicago against the Fire. It was a wonderful evening!
As usual, we'd both picked a horse to root for during the race. My sister's choice, Catching Freedom, would come in third. The Kentucky Derby winner, Mystik Dan, finished 2nd. I'm a sucker for grey horses, so I'd chosen Seize the Grey. I was so excited when he broke from the starting gate and led the entire mile 3/16th race, beating the Derby winner by over 2 lengths. You'd have thought I'd "bet the farm" on him, I was that excited.
Our Waygu sliders were really good, with the "Dr. Pepper Baked Beans" being a nice "side."
And, in the "nightcap," the 3 "R's" on the Crew, Rossi, Ramirez, and Russell-Rowe came through, each scoring, for a 3-1 victory to "put out the "Fire."
WHAT AN EVENING!
