Journaling reads:
It still amazes me that we found each other on an online dating site! At the time that we started messaging each other through the site I was getting over a relationship that had devastated me and he was grieving the loss of his wife who passed away. We messaged and emailed each other for 2 or 3 months before I was comfortable enough to give out my phone number. Then we talked on the phone for about a month before deciding to meet in person. It definitely wasn’t love at first site for either of us- in fact there weren’t any sparks there at all. We went out on a few dates but then he stopped calling or emailing me. I would get a few occasional joke emails from him but it wasn’t until 9/11 that we really started communicating again. He was supposed to be in NYC the day the Twin Towers were hit and he sent an email out to his entire contact list letting everyone know that he was ok. I sent a casual email back letting him know that I was glad he was ok and then next thing you know we were emailing each other pretty regularly. The phone calls started again and we decided to go out on another date. Our 2nd First Date was in December 2001 when we went to see the Trail of Lights in Zilker park. We had a GREAT time together and something just seemed to click with us. We dated exclusively for several months and I remember sitting on the couch in my apartment in February 2002, watching the Winter Olympics, and he asked me if I thought it was too soon for him to tell me that he loved me. We had only been dating for several months so it did freak me out a little. It was just too soon for those types of feelings and I wasn’t really sure that I did or ever would have those types of feelings for him. Then on Easter weekend I met his family for the first time and just loved them! It was that weekend that I realized that I had fallen in love with him and the first time that I told him that I loved him. We got engaged in May 2002 and had planned on a March 2003 wedding but neither of us wanted to wait that long so we were married October 26, 2002. Who knew that the BEST thing that ever happened to me was all because of modern technology?
