Reading has always been a fun part of my life. My parents always read to me growing up and I developed a love for reading. I wanted to pass on to Caleb that same love of reading, so while he was still a baby I would read to him every night. Now he’s 5 and he still loves that I read to him every night. I enjoy our nightly ritual, but sometimes get tired of reading the same books. So, every few weeks or so we will make a trip to the library to get some new books to read. Whenever we get to the children’s section, Caleb makes a bee line for the rocking swan. I’m not quite sure what the fascination is, but he always has to rock on it for a while. Then we get down to the business of getting some books. He’s gone through phases of what he likes. For a while, we had to get every Max and Ruby book by Rosemary Wells that we could find. I practically had those memorized. We went through the Thomas the train phase and Curious George too. It seems as if one book out of the ones that we check out always ends up being a favorite and I end up reading it way more than the others. That’s alright, I’m just really glad that he loves to read and that I get to “snuggle buggle” with him every night when I do.
