Until a couple of weeks ago, I had never heard of choosing a focus word for the year. It sounded like a neat idea, though, and I chose “focus” as my word for 2011 because I really need to focus - on many different levels. I need to focus on what’s important. I need to focus on my goals. And I simply need to focus on whatever I happen to be doing at the time, because I get distracted very easily. I decided to take a picture of me taking a picture because it’s a good visual for focus. Appropriately, I had to take the camera off auto-focus to capture the picture - when I wasn’t being deliberate, the camera focused on the dirt on the mirror underscoring the importance of focusing on the right thing!
