Last summer we decided to take a road trip to Akron, OH and surprise my SIL and her family as we showed up to support my niece and nephew in the All American Soapbox Derby. My husband figured we'd just show up and 'find' them, somewhere at one of the events. I worried that it might be too hard to figure out where they were and that we'd miss something important. My daughter and I put our heads together and came up with the idea to make a series of posters, take pictures of ourselves holding them, and then send them via text while we were on the road to OH. I told them with the first picture that the kids had put together a little series of photos to show their support. Over about 2 hours I sent the 18 texts. Not long after the last text, we received a phone call from my niece. My SIL was crying. They were SO excited and definitely surprised! We arrived just in time to watch BIL race in the parent's race. It was pretty cool!
I created this layout for the 'no embellishment' challenge. Lots of papers here, and some paper clipped to a font for the title, but no embellishments. I realized the other day that most of my paper layouts were just that... paper only. I didn't use many (if any) embellishments because they were so expensive. Digital has me spoiled. It was nice to do something that goes back to my paper roots... although, with a layout this full of pictures there definitely wasn't much room for elements anyway!
I used Libby's And I Think to Myself kit and a Snapshots template (modified slightly) by Cindy on this.
