See the chevron shapes? I created that pretty easily just flipping the first shape and so on until it was filled in. I clipped and merged papers to each part of the chevron's shape. Then I added a style that helped make them look a bit messy. Rasterized it... then added a little bit of bevel&emboss setting. Rasterized and then added shadows. Make sure your pieces of the chevron are in the right order for the directions of your shadows to work best.
