Basically what we saw
My sister and I watched the Total Eclipse of the Sun on 4/8/24 from her condo parking area. We had comfy rocking chairs, "eclipse" glasses, and classical music playing on her cell phone. She stationed her chair next to her Honda Del Sol (Spanish for "of the sun"

with the "Soleil" (French for sun"

license plate - PERFECT! Weather was GREAT! Our home in central Ohio was at the "edge" of the "path of toatlity" so we didn't quite see a TOTAL Eclipse (as in the scrapbooking kit element between our pictures.)
But, what we DID see, as in the pictures at the top of the page, was pretty close. And, as the moon covered more and more of the sun, "automatic" lights came on in the parking lot and at the apartment complex next door. It was definitely darker and a bit cooler. Some of the sun-loving flowers in the area started to close up. We took a quick drive around the complex and saw many of our neighbors on their patios watching the sky. One group of ladies was having a party! I settled for my Dr. Pepper.
