Elliot, I hope that you know how lucky you are to be born an American. You are free to go to school with books and plenty of teachers, free to go to whatever church you choose, or to not go to church if you choose not to. You can take a stand for what is important to you and speak out about what you believe. You can, and I hope that you will when you are old enough to, vote for who you want to be your leaders. And you are free to speak against a leader if you don't agree with them. There are so many places in the world where people do not have the right to choose. To choose where they worship or choose who leads. They do not have the freedom to say what they want to say or wear what they want to wear or live where they want to live. We are living in a time of war. America is fighting for Democracy in the Middle East and fighting to keep terrorists off of American soil. And I am sure we will fight in other wars in your lifetime. As an American and you can disagree with war, but always, always support the military men and women who are fighting for you. They fight so that you have the freedom of Democracy. And we should never forget the sacrifices they make for us. Never take this freedom for granted. You are so fortunate to be born in the land of the free and the home of the brave. A place where anybody can do anything!
