Sweet Shoppe Designs

We have never stopped referring to Vancouver Island (in the Pacific Northwest) as home, even though we have been gone some seven years now. Sometimes a place can become as much of a presence in your life as a loved one.... And we miss her still.


Journaling reads:
For a turquoise moment
my toes once again ache, bathed in the cold Pacific,
and my lungs fill and stretch in thin alpine air.
For a spell, I am again merged with the soul I left there to wander the ancient rain forests and weathered rock.
I can run fingertips on the smooth arbutus, and taste the spice of towering cedar and the wet decay of fern.
I am in the early throes of love again with the man I now fit like an old sweater.
Here, there are no regrets, only the promises of the unrealized.
For a moment, behind closed eyes, the green of moss and tree and the blue of sea and sky are one,
...on my turquoise days.
