Dear Diary by Kristin Cronin-Barrow
Font: DJB Heather 1 by Darcy Baldwin

For our 2009 summer vacation we created a poem for our guest house hosts. Putting it into English while keeping the puns was not that easy, and I hope the English translation makes some sense (lol):

August 6, - August 20, 2009
After arriving at our antiquarian place, getting rest was the order for all of our days.
Wakened by the sun in the early morn, covered by rain and clouds from dusk until dawn.
In the house of multi-generations at night, we always found something to keep us occupied.
Playing poker until 3 o?clock in the morn, meant breakfast had usually come and gone.
The 1.000 piece-puzzles were soon in demand, we had to do something to escape the rain at our hand.
Never as much as we did here, have we played with puzzles in our daily stir.
The laptop allowed us to go online, the speed of 6KB, however, wasn?t quite prime.
Many a movie was watched and was shown, but only the grandkids dared making one of their own.
Doors and lamps were much too low, thus the men all walked with a bow.
The food of the chefs was wonderful, the well-equipped kitched supplied many a tool.
We got sick and tired of eating much pike, the Swabian bread snack without lard was not what we like.
Perches here were rather rare, eating them was a tasty affair.
In the woods we discovered deer, fox, rabbit and snail, on the road, hedgehog and toad we didn?t want to assail.
Wolves and moose we also could hear, as they were roaring at our rear.
Wild boars ravaged in the woods all around, and turned the backyard upside down.
When to the waterfall we were on our way, a fungal attack met us that day.
Playing golf the balls flew so far and so wide, on the green of Marb?ck we had nothing to hide.
Rowing on the large lake, wasn?t so nice with all the wind and rain blowing into our eyes.
Still, the lake was an attraction, fishing always was a well-rewarded action.
Grandma XXX, at one time, was a catch when she capsized, how sublime!
The son-in-law whom he is soon to be, was the one who accidentally threw her into the sea.
Falling into the water - it couldn?t get any better, that day there was no one else who got wetter.
Laughing, everyone stood around, too sad at that moment no camera was to be found!
Grandpa actually just wanted to rest, his urge for fixing things, however, soon replaced this quest.
His list for repairs was without end, the furniture spoke volumes after his mend.
Grandpa couldn't help it, so very swift, he had given the driveway a new face-lift.
With rust, the nails in the furniture began to break, the moose fur on the wall was much at stake!
Probably grandpa?s most favorite affair, was very likely the IKEA chair.
So hard to be moved out of it, that we thought that we may present him a Poang chair for his birthday some day.
Destination ?lmhult was an IKEA dream to come true, the places we went were not very few.
From Halmstad to Ljungby we moved all around, to explore Sweden from Kalmar to Karlskrona we were bound.
The Tropic Center was quite the hot spot, what an excitement to have 14.000 animals all in one pot.
Once an attack of bewilderment hit, when in front of our eyes a turtle marched out the main exit.
Swimming at the Tyl?sand beach was wonderful, though at night the mosquitoes always had their full.
Sneaking up on us they hailed their attack, and frequently feasted on biting our back.
Though we never got sick of being around here, we still are glad to go home, that?s for sure.
Every day passing your gates we had a great time, so we want to say thank you with this simple rhyme.

The families XXX and XXX say thank you for a great time here!
