November Portfolio challenge #15 - A layout within a layout - scrap a page devoted to one or two or three or twenty of your favorite previously scrapped layouts.

I forget sometimes that half of the pages I create will be given away. I need to remember to keep a sample of my favourite ones to look back on like I have here. For the last few years I have been scrapping my nieces and nephews as well as my own family. It’s been my gift to my brothers and sisters to capture their baby’s first year through scrapbooking. I know what it’s like to want to remember that first year. You think you’ll never forget the little things they did, or the way they looked at a certain age. But you do. And you wish you had written things down, noted why you took that photo, or how you felt at that moment. Wherever possible I get the parents to provide the journalling. Those declarations of love will be cherished treasures should the unimaginable happen and a parent dies before the child is grown. I know, it’s a morbid thought, but it’s what motivated me to scrap in the first place. I want my children to know from ME how much I love them. I want to leave messages throughout their lives that leave them in no doubt of their value and importance to me as their mum. And I want that for my nephews and nieces too. I spend hundreds of hours on the albums - each taking a full year to complete. I can’t scrap everyone, or everything but I do what I can with the time I have, putting all my love into each layout. These pages are from Hannah’s album. Through scrapping her, I have been honoured to witness Andre and Shannon’s deep love and devotion to their firstborn. What a blessing it is to have this opportunity to serve my family, to share my love and create a lasting record of the things that matter most. My next task is to teach the parents how to scrap so they can do the remaining years!
