Journaling Reads: The day finally arrived to see Thomas and it was a cold one! We arrived in Grapevine and Caleb was very excited to see Thomas. He did wonder where all the other engines were though! Since it was bitterly cold they allowed us to board the train early. Luckily we were able to get into one of the indoor passenger coaches-they had some open air coaches that would have made for a very miserable ride that day. It wasn’t long before the conductor came along and got Caleb’s ticket. He was super excited to meet the conductor. Before long we heard Thomas’s Peep Peep, and the theme song started. I think every child on the train went into instant alert when they heard Thomas’s whistle. It was so funny. We settled in for the ride and after a while Caleb got a little bored with it. Luckily it’s a pretty short ride and before we knew it we were back at the station. We got off the train and went to see Sir Topham Hat. Caleb wasn’t sure what to think of him and was very shy with him. They had a lot of activities set up, but it was so cold that we didn’t stay to do them. We took a few pictures, got Caleb some hot chocolate, and headed home. Caleb had quite a morning with Thomas and thought it was pretty cool that he got to take a ride with him.
