Journaling Reads: Every Summer when I was growing up we took a two week vacation to Colorado. We would try new places and visit some old favorites, but one place we always went was River Hill campground near Creede. We drove the dune buggy over Stony Pass, went fishing at Reagan Lake, wading in the Rio Grande, and sat by the campfire every night. Creede was my Dad’s favorite spot, and I understand why even better now. This past Summer, John and I decided to go to Creede. We booked a cabin at Little Squaw Resort, which is right next to River Hill campground. It was a little surreal being back there all these years later because so much of it seemed unchanged. But now I was there with my child-climbing the same rocks that I did when I was a kid, fishing in the same lake, and taking in the same sights. For me, there is just something magical about this place-the sound of the river, the smell of the pine trees, the breathtaking views, and the quiet of the forest. I really love this place.
