Journaling Reads: When I was younger, I was very focused on becoming “someone important”. I poured myself into my studies and graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech. I landed a position as a produce buyer, earned an MBA and thought I was on my way. After working for several companies and learning some hard lessons, I discovered that being a success in the business world wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. I discovered that I’d much rather be important to my family and friends than be someone important in the business world. My thoughts on this matter changed even more dramatically when I had Caleb. I want to set a good example for my son, be a good wife to my husband, and want to fulfill God’s purpose in my life. I want to be someone important, but it doesn’t have anything to do with money or status. My definition of important has dramatically changed and now I want to be the best wife, mother, and friend that I can be to the people who really matter. That’s what’s important.
