Journaling reads:
I used to wonder about it a lot. How could a mother not tell? If her own child was struggling to hear the world, Shouldn’t she
of all people be able to recognize the problems her child was facing? We didn’t discover your hearing loss until Thanksgiving ‘03 when we were all discussing your behavior. After the school nurse tested you, I’m not sure who felt worse, me or your teacher. We both experienced that same guilt. After meeting with the ENT, we were able to resolve the hearing issue with tubes. The ENT was amazed at how well you had adapted to the hearing loss and had learned to read lips. ’m not sure as impressed as he was with your coping abilities that it makes
me feel any better about not recognizing your struggle. I wonder if I had dectected it earlier, if you would have had to still endure years of speech therapy. My only consolation is that you’ve come through the experience with flying colors and are still extremely self confident.

This is so pretty and I really appreciate your journalling. We've just confirmed that DS has reduced oxygen uptake as he sleeps and I'm feeling that I should have realised soon - I just accepted his apneas because he's had them since he was a baby. So I get a little bit how you feel. I hope getting it all down on your page has helped ease that guilt a little bit.
You have a beautiful daughter and it sounds like she's doing great now.
