Journalling~
Pam's birdbath does a whole lot more than bathe common garden birds. The garden has been lucky enough to be a favourite visiting spot for kereru this summer, with the beautiful native pigeons stopping off for a drink in the birdbath. This one is thought to be a baby, as he (or she) still has a little trouble with the landing and balancing. Of course, the sparrows, fantails and starlings all enjoy a bath as well, and occasionally a bit of a water fight as the birds try to establish who has precedence.
It's also a favourite playground for visiting children. Pam often has to rush outside and tip out the old water the birds have used and put in fresh before a small boy arrives with a boat, as Paul is doing here. I've seen a whole procession of children do exactly this, often several of them at once, which is a bit of a challenge, as it isn't the biggest boat sailing venue ever constructed.
Who ever said a birdbath had to limit its rasion de'etre according to the whim of its original inventor?
