Journaling reads:
I was working in an industry that was heavily dependent on travel when 9/11 happened. It was terrible, the money dried up and the office was miserable as everyone waited to see what would happen. I was pregnant with my second baby and that December had to fly on a business trip.
Flying was bad enough, but the trip was a disaster. Just plain miserable. We returned to the office and the finger pointing began. I was blamed for many things that fell outside of my responsibility and was written up and put on a 90 day probation.
I still remember picking my husband up from the airport that evening and tearfully explaining what had happened. He was livid but encouraged me to try and work things out. I went to bed when we got home, but didn’t sleep well. After much thought and prayer I decided to just quit my job. It was a huge moment for me. Money was tight as it was, but we simply could not afford to go without my salary. But, it felt so right. So I typed up my resignantion letter and told my husband what I was going to do. I could tell he was worried about it, but I pressed the issue and got his blessing. When I handed the letter to my boss she looked at me and said, “You’ll never find another job being this far pregnant. I think this is a really bad idea for you but if you insist...” I insisted and she accepted my notice of 4 weeks. I hadn’t been that happy in over a year!
Six days later I went to an interview and I could just feel that everything was going to work out. I got a call the next day about the job and accepted. I cut my notice short, was brutally honest in my exit interview and never looked back.
It was a major leap of faith for me especially, but looking back, I know I did the right thing. I knew it at the time and I know it now. What I really needed was just that overwhelming sense of PEACE.
