...we saw you, we could hardly believe our eyes. I had had a miscarriage
only a few months before and we were preparing to move to a different
city in France and so I called and asked for an early appointment with my
doctor. We had been so fearful after our recent loss that we were so thankful
to get in when I was barely six weeks pregnant. The doctor wanted to go
ahead and do an ultrasound and we eagerly awaited our first glimpse of
this brand new life that was growing already inside me.. As Dr. Gawi began
the ultrasound, we watched the screen not really knowing what we were
seeing. Then, I heard him say “il y en a deux”....hardly trusting my French, I
asked him to repeat it thinking that he was joking with us. When he replied
that perhaps there was three, I started laughing nervously not quite sure what
was happening. He then assured us that there weren’t three, but there was
most definitely two sacs and so he would be doing another ultrasound to
make sure that we had two alive little babies and sure enough, not only did we
have two healthy, growing little babies, we even got to see your little hearts
so young, yet beating quite strongly. We both left that doctor’s appointment
a little overwhelmed at the prospect of becoming parents to not just one, but
two little babies. I couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face and your papa was
more than a little nervous. One thing is definitely for sure, you completely
stole our from the very first time that we saw you. We didn’t know then
that you would be our first and only babies born to us and looking back now,
our hearts are overwhelmed at God’s goodness and graciousness to our family.
We have loved you from before we ever saw those tiny beating hearts and we
are thankful for every single moment since then.
