JOURNALING: On June 20, 2024, at 4:50 PM EDT, the summer solstice begins in the Northern Hemisphere. At that time, the sun will cross its highest and northermost points in the sky and it will be the longest day of the year. The day will have the most sunlight of any day of the year. There are many interesting facts associated with the solstice, but, since I'm a bat-lover, I've chosen to highlight this fact about those amazing creatures. Since they are nocturnal hunters, they have to really work hard during the solstice, sometimes having only two hours on that day in which to find food. The solstice is sometimes called Midsummer in Europe. Wiccans call it Litha. Some Christian Churches call it St. John's Day, commemorating the birth of John the Baptist.

Love this, especially the photo you used with all those bats. You included a lot of interesting facts about the solstice.
