I captured this self portrait at my workplace one busy afternoon in 2010.

I'd just finished attending yet another meeting in a schedule jam-packed full of high-stakes, high-stress projects. I looked fine on the outside, but I was falling apart on the inside.

After everyone left the boardroom, I closed the doors and took a couple deep breaths. With the blinds open wide, the room was flooded with light, and I noticed my reflection in the tabletop.

So I pulled out my camera, set it on a timer, and captured this self portrait. There was something about my reflection, and the way it faded away to nothing, that spoke to my heart. It was how I felt inside ... like I, too, was fading away ... despite the fact I looked just fine on the outside.
