This is a layout I did for this week's challenge at the Sweet Shoppe to create a layout about those quirky little things you HAVE to do in life......this is mine - I HAVE to have the TV on at night in order to fall asleep.
Journaling reads:
I am a self-proclaimed die-hard “I can’t sleep at night without the TV on” gal. I know it started when I was a child when I would wait up for my mom to come home from the college courses she took at night. I would toss and turn in my bed until I heard the comforting voice come booming from the TV set in her bedroom – “Heeeerrrreeee’s Johnny!” along with the chuckles of Ed McMahon and Johnny Carson as they did their night time routine. Sometimes I would laugh quietly at the silly jokes I heard and then fall asleep knowing my family was home safe.
Fast forward to now and as an adult, I still have to have the TV on in order for me to fall sleep and I often feel that same comfort I did as a girl knowing my family is home safe. Now mind you, my husband is not thrilled with this little habit of mine and will often try to turn the TV off when he THINKS I am asleep. Within seconds I am up and wide awake proclaiming that I was watching something and he NEEDS to turn it back on. I disregard his protests that I could not be possibly watching TV with my eyes shut – he does not understand that I am a mother – I can multi-task even with my eyes shut!!!! So every night, we have the TV on and even though Johnny Carson is no longer on the Tonight Show, I can still hear Ed McMahon’s voice in my head – “Heeeeeerrrreeeee’s Johnny!”……goodnight Johnny!
