Journaling reads-It started in 2001. One of my coworkers played this online game called Everquest and said I might like it. I have always like computer and console games, so I decided to give it a try. At first, I was embarassed-here I was playing an online game, for MAJOR computer geeks-people actually sold their characters online, bought virtual weapons with REAL money, lost jobs, families, and even commit suicide over a silly game. I became hooked though and played EQ for about 4 years straight-you could say I was addicted. I would pull all nighters on a work night, take the day off from work to play online, even make my dinner at the computer desk so I could play. Ainwena was the name of my first online character and has been ever since. For awhile, it was the best way to relax-I could immerse myself into this fantasy world and forget about real life for awhile (not that it was bad). Since then, I have played about every major online game out there-I even have four installed on the computer now, waiting for me to log in. I am not quite as hard-core now, but on somedays I still can’t resist the allure of the fantasy world.
