Journaling: Jackie Daniel Adams was my grandfather; Baba’s father. My favorite memories of him are from playing at the park & laughing. When I remember him, I remember warm, happy times. I remember that we could never go anywhere without him running into someone he knew. He genuinely cared about people, and he never met a stranger.
When I found out I was pregnant, I knew that I wanted to name my child after him if I had a son. When we first found out I was pregnant, we waited to tell our families...but we waited too late to tell Papaw. He died when I was 12 weeks pregnant with you. I was devestated. I wanted you to know him, and for him to know how much he meant to me, how much I loved him. And although all of my life I had seen him as larger than life, it was only after his death that I realized how truly special he was. A life-long friend testified that he’d never heard Papaw say a bad word about anyone. I was even more impressed when Mamaw, his wife of 55 years, said the same thing! Everyone there had a story to share about how Papaw blessed their lives.
I knew then that we were right to give you his name. My hope is that you will grow up to be like this amazing man of God whose name you are blessed to bear.

I love your journaling very heartfelt! My grandmother died 3.5 weeks before my daughter was born, and I know the feeling of your child never knowing that wonderful person in your life. Just beautiful.

Great page Kellie! You are such a good journaler. My grandmother passed away the same week I found out I was pregnant with my oldest and I always felt bad that she didn't get to meet my children too.
