Journaling: When we moved overseas, I had an entire action packer dedicated to scrap supplies. I was a committed memory keeper. I worked on my albums bit by bit, telling our story as I went. But when we moved to Malaysia, I got a subscription to Simple Scrapbooks Magazine. In one issue was an article about an online community and store called 2Peas in a Bucket. It was all downhill from there, let me tell ya.I began to browse the gallery there. It was my first clue that scrapping could be more than something you did to simply preserve memories. You could get PRAISE for your pages! (Not that mine ever got much but still) You could create beautiful works of art while you preserve your memories. I was hooked.
That fall, I began to see pages I loved that were digitally made (computer generated is what we called them at the time), and I wished THOSE PEOPLE had their own gallery so they wouldnt flood ours w/their pages. Then I discovered that I, too, could make CG layouts and I proceeded to obsessively scrap every page on my hard drive that hadn't been scrapped yet. (Not necessarily a lot since my paper album was up to date) After Jack was born, I didn't scrap a single page the first year, but once I started scrapping again, I was ALL DIGI.
And ever since then, I have struggled to find balance. I want to preserve my memories; that is why I cant walk away from this hobby even though I have tried many times. I find myself drawn to the pretty colors, the ease of mixing and matching and recoloring. I love seeing my photos shine on a fun, colorful layout, but I hate how it sucks me in... how I neglect the things that matter to scrap...how Ive stopped reading...how I always feel this compulsion to scrap. So I struggle with it-unable to give it up always feel this compulsion to scrap. So I struggle with it-unable to give it up completely yet unable to let it just be one of many hobbies. I keep hoping Ill find that balance...cuz if I don't, It may cost me more than I'm willing to pay.

Wow, what powerful journaling! I think that's a question that most of us face. And I don't know if I know the answer...

Beautiful Kellie! I feel you girl! Finding balance in this hobby is so hard. I struggle everyday to not neglect the things that matter most just so I can make another page. It's very hard cause it's so addicting.
