Journaling (sorry, very braggy ):
Wyatt ran a brilliant campaign for Corona del Sol Student Body President. Wyatt’s quest for this position started after he won Freshman Class President. He then went on to become both Sophomore and Junior Class President. When it was time to run for Student Body President of the whole school as an upcoming Senior, he was ready. Except for one little thing that made it all very difficult. His girlfriend of one year broke up with him and then 2 weeks later ran against him for President.

Wyatt took it in stride and mounted a fantastic campaign. We purchased 45 white t-shirts (Mom found a great deal for $1.81 each!) to hand out to other students who would help Wyatt campaign, and t-shirt transfers. Mom did not even “get” the slogans he wanted on his poster and shirts, but she designed the graphics for the t-shirts and borrowed a Cricut from a friend to do the posters. The slogans were all a play on song lyrics. When Wyatt took his t-shirts to school, students were begging for them. And they loved the posters! Kent and Kurt helped put labels on suckers to hand out to students. Mom and Wyatt stayed up night after night getting all the t-shirts and posters done. It was definitely a family effort to help him win!

Part of the campaign is each candidate is required to make a 30-second video that is shown to the entire school - all 2800 students. Wyatt again knocked it out of the park with his clever video in which he interjected his full name over and over and over. After it was shown, students he didn’t even know were coming up to him and saying “Hi Wyatt Larson!” Success!

The day of the election, we were all pretty nervous. His ex-girlfriend is Drum Major and has a lot of friends, so we knew she would get quite a few votes. At the end of the school day, the votes were taken to an outside company to count them (yes, it’s a big deal!). By about 5pm we were all getting pretty antsy. Wyatt was still at track practice and we didn’t know if he knew the results or not. Mom ended up finding the results on the Corona del Sol Facebook group and we were all so excited to see he had won!

Wyatt has a lot of work ahead of him this next year, but he is ready and able to get the job done. We all know he will make a fantastic Student Body President and are so very proud of him! (And he even gets a key to the school!)
