Journaling: Apart from the snuggles & the cute pictures, clearly,I think my favorite thing about being a parent is the way it’s sloughed off so much of the selfishness in my heart. I find myself wishing that I had already been purged of my selfishness when Jack was a baby...I would have been such a better parent. But I can definitely say that in the 7 years and 10 months that I’ve been a mother, I’ve learned to care more about others and to be willing to
sacrifice what I want for the good of someone else. I’ve realized that the things I want are rarely that important, and I’ve learned the joy of putting others ahead of myself, not just with my kids but in life in general. I look back at my
pre-child self and feel ashamed at how selfish I was. I was so concerned about always getting my way and always getting what I wanted, but these guys have cured me of that. They’ve taught me that relationships are what matter most, and I’m so thankful for to have been
stretched and to have grown at the hands of such good teachers.
