Filofax and other organizers...
So I recently jumped on the organizer bandwagon (as in last night at 1am I am laying in bed and ordered a filofax A5 saffiano from Amazon from my phone. I want to pimp out my planner with custom inserts and what not. I want to do a hybrid version, print my own inserts, and dividers and also use stickers and washi tapes to decorate.
Any decorative planner people out there? Any suggestions on places I should look for shopping. I bought a bunch of cute post-it shapes on ebay for my dashboard. I was also checking to some diary/planner mini stickers on etsy. Kinda pricey though the ones I saw. Any suggestions on digital kits that would work well for planning? |

Me, me, me!!!
Try out the groups on Facebook, there are lots of filo addicts there Filofax for philofaxy fans is a great one, and has a sister group for washi decorating and so on. Philofaxy also has a blog, where you can get free, printable diary inserts, tips and tricks, plus lots of links to different decorating blogs etc.

Yeah that is exactly what I was looking for. And Tracy was crazy fast approving my request to join the FB groups!
and feel free to keep 'em coming. I really want to try to track down a template so I can clip papers to it to make the dividers. Last edited by sastampink; 08-17-2014 at 04:21 PM. |

I actually have a tutorial on making dividers using SSD kits, on my blog. It's mostly the how to for newbies, but it's basically just pick the size of your pages, add on a few mm for a tab and then cut them by using the dividers that comes with your planner as a template.

I am a planner nut. I use Erin Condren's planner. I have so much fun decorating my weeks. Probably too much fun. I need to join some FB groups though. I have a separate Instagram for my planner stuff though.

My ECLP just came today! I will probably never get it decorated or anything. I'll be lucky if I keep up with adding appointments! LOL
I've used the ECTP for two years, too. I LOVE it! There are a bunch of Filofax sticker, etc. stores on etsy: https://www.etsy.com/search?q=filofax

You're all making me really want one...I'm a paper calendar girl through and through. Digital calendars just don't work for me. I used to have Dayrunners, but for the last few years I've just used a wall calendar. I'm going back to work part time in a few weeks. I can already see the writing on the wall that I'm going to need a planner then. An excuse to buy all the fun paper stuff that I don't use for scrapping? Yes, please!

Awesome gals! Love the idea, but will have to say I've gone digital over here since I can share digital calendars with my DH, work, etc...

I use a Mon Journal, I love it so much. I've used all sorts of planners but this one works so well for me, it isn't too big or bulky, and I've found just the right method to my madness. I don't go super crazy but I do washi, doodle and decorate in mine. I also buy clear address labels and make custom stickers with digi-supplies.

I resize digital project life cards and then print them on sticker paper. They fit in my planner boxes perfectly! I love making my own stickers and am even considering a silhouette cameo so I can cut things easier.

Alright, I caved way sooner than I thought I would. But everything I found was just too big. I need something I can carry around all day, preferably something about 5x7 and not bulky. So I ended up buying an Arc hole punch from Staples and will be shrinking, printing, and disc binding a planner set from I Heart Organizing. I fell in love with the colors and vertical day design (I'm a list maker ). Shrinking it is turning out to be a bigger pain than I anticipated, but I can do it if I import into PS. I don't know if it's my printer, a change in Adobe Reader, or settings that the printable creator selected, but I can't just print at 80% like I used to be able to.

I tried the Arc system with the planner from I Heart Organizing too because it was so stinking cute. I didn't care for the arc system personally. Plus I spent WAY more money on the paper, ink, and other supplies trying to print that out than if I had just purchased the EC planner to begin with.
I had also tried printing my own inserts when I had my filofax but I was never satisfied with any of it. Hoping I fall in love with my EC! Quote:

I started out thinking there was no way I was going to print anything myself. Too much time, hassle, and money. But it was the size that finally convinced me to go that route. EC and Filofax (and all the other brands I looked at) need a 3rd, smaller size option. I'm set for the rest of 2014 and 2015 now. But if I stick with a planner beyond that and still like the 5x7 size, an office supply store will be doing my 2016 printing! (I think my cost is still less than the purchased ones, but the time is the real kicker for me. I didn't have time to take this on right now, yet here I am doing it anyway. )

Just made some new dividers for my filofax using SSD kits. I love how they turned out. Printed them on photo paper and laminated them.
And they fit perfectly with the colour of my planner too

Great ideas! I've been using my planner and loving it, but fancying it up has been limited to washi and a couple of colored pens. I have more ideas than time right now, but maybe in a few weeks I'll get to play more.

whoa, how did I miss this thread?! I ordered an Erin Condren recently too. Hoping it arrives next week! I don't plan to decorate too much, just washi tape. With my crazy school schedule and life in general, I decided I needed to get a planner.

Funny thing, how small the world is with the internet around. I smile a little anytime I see someone I know from somewhere else in one of the groups in FB.
