Dream job?
If you could do anything at all, there were no barriers, nothing that could prevent you from making it happen, everything would magically fall into place, what would it be?
For me, I've always wanted a career in criminal justice - something with forensics. Or my other dream is to have my own bakery with a little seating area for drinking coffee/tea/cocoa and enjoying a homebaked treat. And I'd offer delivery because you can order almost any time of day and get a pizza or Chinese food delivered but not one single place in my area delivers desserts.

I'm doing it. Being a mum has always been my dream job. I supplement it by working 10hrs a week as a secretary for a charitable trust, but I'd be happy to be a full time mum again. Just wish it paid more. haha!

Something that doesn't involve children. I used to be a nanny and now I teach French to little kids but I feel so done now that I have my own kids.
I'm in the middle of trying to decide what I want to do with myself but without qualifications I'm not sure... a boring desk job for a few hours a week would be great! Otherwise I love being home with my kids. Just a little break is nice. Oh I know. Food critic! I love eating so much and I always have something to say.

Oh Erin, you and Kaylene really NEED to open your own bakery!! Move to AZ and join her business endeavor!!
Me personally? Something with graphic art---something that doesn't involve me being around people, not being able to understand/hear them and I can work in my own space (ie my own head). I can get up if my back hurts or sit down if my leg is swollen and throbbing. It's something that I can totally do with all my health issues. But if we are talking, no income necessary......why my dream job would be on SSD's creative team! Oh how I dream and wish that were a reality! |

Total dream, no reality. Travel Photographer. Hands down.
In reality, I plan to get my masters in a couple years so I can teach technology when I retire from the military. Erin, you should open your own bakery. Have you thought of getting a business degree? |

I dream of doing something that gives people the chance for a better life, like supervising a job training/livelihood program, or serving refugees, teaching English and connecting them with mentors who can help them adjust to life in America.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, I follow the bucketlistfamily & doyoutravel, and I wouldn't mind traveling the world, taking pictures & getting paid.

I'd love to write fiction. I could do it from home and entirely on my own schedule so that I could balance it easily with parenting. I don't think I'm actually witty and creative enough to write books that people love, but if everything is going to magically fall into place that doesn't matter.
In real life, I gravitate toward helper roles. My bachelors is in education and psychology, and my masters is in public health. Every job I've ever had was in either education or public health, and most have been working for non-profits or government. Right now I'm teaching preschool. If the pay was better I might even say that was my dream job--being an author beats it by just a hair since teaching takes so much patience and energy (both mental and physical). That feeling is exactly why I switched to working in public health for a while. At the time we thought that I'd need to keep working after we had kids, and I knew I couldn't be a good teacher and a good mom to very young kids at the same time. It does get easier when they're older, even though I know hearing that doesn't help when yours are still so young! I ended up being able to be a SAHM when mine were little, and I went back to teaching when my youngest entered kindergarten. I couldn't have done it when mine were preschoolers, but by the time they were in elementary school they had matured so much that it wasn't as hard to spend the day with young kids then come home to my own kids.

Psychologist hands down. I have always just wanted to help others sort through their bad feelings to feel better.... plus I'm a good listener, and already the person everyone runs to for advice just not getting paid for it.
As a fall back I'd probably want to be a famous Beauty Guru on youtube lol |

Definitely art. I would love to be a professional illustrator someday. I think when the kids get older and more independant I will pursue it. But, as of now, I just don't have the time or space to be a full time illustrator.

Actually another dream job would be as a travel agent - I briefly considered that growing up but was more drawn to the helping professions, initially in healthcare til I didn't get into the course but now into the community services and disability area

I'm at the point of trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up My youngest is a junior in high school, so he'll be college bound soon and my roll as full-time mom will mostly be done.
I honestly have no idea!! I love reading all of your dream jobs. I've always had too many interests & skills and have never narrowed it down to what I could really do. That's one of the reasons I dropped out of college. I'm thinking maybe a professional organizer? I'm one of those weird people who really enjoys organizing things. Possibly a counselor, but I feel things too deeply and I don't know if I could handle it. LOL! And, the list goes on!! |

Something creative. I love my jobs right now so if they could include more creativity then I’d be set. Maybe more photography, graphic design? I don’t know.

Being a mom is my dream job. BUT, if I could be anything, I would be a travel agent or interior designer. My other dream job (could never happen, but would be fun) would be a marine life trainer. (working with dolphins)

What I'm doing now - project manager. I'm a "problem solver" and writer - I get to spend time planning and organizing. So I would just stay this happy and content with it forever.
